Whistle baja (Manj & Nindy Kaur featuring Raftaar) is a sure-shot chartbuster. Ex-RDB band member Manj, who now goes by the name Manj Musik, takes the iconic flute tune from Shubash Ghai’s Hero (1983) and creates a foot-tapping Punjabi dance number that’s irresistibly catchy! It helps that the female lead Nindy has a distinct voice, which adds to the appeal of this track.

However, Manj’s other composition, The pappi song is annoying and deserves an instant fast forward!

Rabba is a ’90s-style ballad with fairly trite lyrics but Mohit Chauhan renders it with ease and his trademark charm, and the song ends up a pleasant experience. Chauhan’s other solo Tabah suffers from the same ’90s hangover, but his soulful singing redeems it to a large extent.

From the moment Arijit Singh’s soothing voice kicks in, you know you are in for a treat with Raat bhar, the clear winner of this album. Sajid-Wajid contrast the gorgeous vocals of Singh and Shreya Ghoshal with a fast-paced club beat and the result is a breezy romantic number that will have you hooked.

Tere bina (Mustafa Zahid) is a lilting, uncluttered composition quite similar to the songs composed previously by Zahid’s band Roxen. A gentle, soothing number that lingers.

Our Pick:

'Rabba', 'Raat Bhar', 'Tabah', 'Whistle Baja'
