Banner: UTV Spot Boy
Label: Soni Music
Music Director: Amit Trivedi
Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire
The album opens with Amit Trivedi’s emotive and mesmerising rendition of Manja. He fares even better as a composer here, using a delightful array of instruments, including the Esraj to create a celebratory, almost spiritual kind of song. Swanand Kirkire’s eloquent lyrics about ambition and life are outstanding. Manja is a terrific beginning to the album.
Meethi boliyaan (Mili Nair, Amit Trivedi) has a breezy charm that will have you hooked from the moment Nair’s dreamy vocals kick in. Starting with gentle guitar riffs, the song slowly settles into the light-hearted, easy listening space. Having sung songs in the South, Nair makes quite an impact in her first full-fledged Hindi film song. As a singer, Trivedi compliments her wonderfully, but is brilliant as the composer of this charming number.
With Shubhaarambh (Shruthi Pathak, Divya Kumar), Trivedi gives the traditional Garbha song a slight twist with the shehnai and bagpipes. The track starts mellow and quickly becomes an infectious traditional dance song that will have you swaying to its beats. Kirkire’s lyrics, a mix of Gujarati and Hindi, are philosophical. Divya Kumar and Shruthi Pathak make a mark with their effortless singing. The only disappointing thing about this album is that it’s very short!
